Graphics quality aside what do you all think is the best Gear armor? The original set from 1 and 2 or the new set from 5?

[SPOILERS ALL] Just finished campaign of Gears Five, and Holy shit.

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:22 PM PST

This is the first gears game I've played, so I don't know much about the lore of the game. But Holy shit that ending. I honestly didn't expect to become this emotionally invested. I legit almost cried when Jack sacrificed himself, and the death of JD was heartbreaking.

Now my boyfriend and I are downloading the rest of the games off gamepass. Safe to say we're fans now. Not so much of the online modes, because people keep ditching, but yeah.

Any idea when we might get an Operation 3 announcement?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 08:12 PM PST

We're getting down to last couple weeks of ToD2 so an announcement should be coming soon right?

How many weeks were left in Operation 1 when they announced Operation 2?

With all the characters in the multiplayer like big rig dizzy, spotter, kantus, and commando dom as unlockable characters, why wasn't myrrah an unlockable or even buyable character? Little weird to me.

    Hyper Bouncing

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 01:08 PM PST

I can hyper bounce but when i see other people do it like professionals i have a question how come their animation looks different then mine like the feet and what have you ? I play Classic-alt and remap buttons but it never seems the same as someone else and theirs looks better. So for players who hyper bounce couple questions...

    1) left stick (think of a clock) what numbers do you do your left stick ? for example i do 11-2

    2) i dont use single-stick movement b.c i think you can wb faster with it off.

    3) how do people hyper bounce on "default" i dont play claw i use LB to wall bounce even on classic-alt and when i go to tournament or classic and remap class to LB i still cant bounce fast. Is this a timing issue ?

    Horde Ideas/Changes

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 11:04 AM PST

(LONG READ) Not sure if this will be read by very many ppl but just wanted to pass along some small (or big maybe) ideas I've had in case something catches anyones attention that can make a difference. These are PURELY for Horde and the Heroes system we currently have. Will try to make this as easy as possible on the eyes.

Ultimates: think an added functionality should be applied where pressing the button/key to use your ult whilst it is on cooldown actually shows everyone in the game how much time is left before the ult is available. It's a small thing but having it to where everyone knows what their teammates have or don't have can make a huge difference in team coordination.

Scouts: I remember this being in Gears 4 and think it should make a comeback. I think all current and future scouts should have a skill card where picking up power heals them. Maybe even have the excess healing turns to stim rule in play as well.

The idea here is that scouts are supposed to be incentivized to be the ones out on the front lines picking up the power for everyone. BUT in higher difficulties simply being out of cover for a second or two can be suicide. So the scout has ZERO incentive to actually do one part of their job. A major one at that. Giving them a means to keep themselves sustained simply by doing their jobs changes that. Right now Kait has to get executions for stims (easily done with her ult) but Lahni has to work significantly harder to do the same. And that's on top of the current meta seeing Kait being WAY better on the dps front.

Tanks: One severe misstep in my opinion with tanks in pve is that they don't FEEL like tanks at all. A higher health pool, faster health regen or small instances of crowd control.....these alone don't make tanks feel like tanks. A tank needs to genuinely feel like they can survive in spots no one wants to find themselves in. I am a tank player in basically everything that has the role so I am especially passionate about this role.....

One thing I would change is that tanks would be immune to most forms of enemy crowd control. So flash bangs still blind them but no longer stun them at all. Stopping power doesn't slow them down when running. FULLY freezing a tank takes 3 seconds longer than other classes. Maybe add a baseline buff where all forms of dmg are like 10-15% less effective. But to even it out you tone down their damage numbers. Actually another route I would pitch is not only to lower a tanks damage value but bake in crowd control into their ballistics altogether so they all have stuns. Yes I am aware that this is Connors ultimate but I feel like instead of one "tank" being able to do this once every few rounds.....this should just be the standard for all of them. Rework Connors version to prolong itself the more dmg she puts out....similar to Marcus' skillcard that prolongs his ult for dealing dmg.

Offense: I think this one is KIND of simple as far as making this class more viable without just buffing the numbers. Simply add more instances for offensive heroes to apply a bleed/damage over time. And like Kait, add unique skillcards that amp up their dps for hitting bleeding targets. This instantly makes it realistic to run ANY offense hero and still make them as viable as JD is right now.

JD: make it to where ALL ammo boxes give him back Launcher ammo. A full box gives him a full 3 (MAINLY so that it stops him from having to greed boxes early on/leave something for others) and a pilfer gives him one launcher. Or add an option in the fabricator for him to JUST buy launcher ammo on its own. Something like 500 power maybe so he isn't breaking the bank to maintain his dps.

Fahz: create a skillcard that applies a bleed effect for headshots. And also I'd change his passive altogether from the ammo thing to something similar to the cog soldier in arcade. Where getting a precision kill instantly refunds the bullet so he can just stay in a rythym and keep the headshots flowing. Its a mechanic that's already in the game so I feel like it shouldn't be too hard to program it into Fahz on the pve side. Not to mention by design most of Fahz' targets are going to be far away. So if he headshots 6 of them how realistic is it that he will willingly walk up close to something WAY out there JUST to get a pilfer ammo box?

Will circle back to this later but the pilfer for x amount of kills mechanic should be a support class thing.

Emile: again same premise. He has a Markza by default. Add a skillcard that applies a bleed to headshots. Also imo you guys could buff his Ultimate with an added funtionality that any enemies that step INTO the Drop Shield automatically have a bleed applied to them. Emile is meant to be offense. Give him more avenues to deal damage.

Also in terms of melee based heroes I think Grace's skillcard that gives her stim for melee damage dealt should be a baseline thing for all of the melee based heroes. Again I look back to my point about scouts and them needing incentive to play their roles. A melee based hero is A LOT more likely to do melee things if they have ways to keep themselves alive in the process. Up the melee dmg and add lifesteal. And like above....apply the excess health as stim rule. Easy fix/buff.

Engineers: Honestly this is the one class you guys knocked out of the park so far. With the lone exception being Kat. Which is well documented so I won't harp on it. I will pitch one or 2 ideas though for her Ultimate to have a bit more viability. Create an added functionality where any enemies that shoot at or damage her hologram have a bleed applied to them and/or give her stim. Right now the holo doesn't really feel all that good to begin with and honestly both Del & Baird have something that actually does some form of work for them while they are off doing engineer things. Adding these functionalities to Kat gives her the same upside.

Support: Honestly this class is kind of hard to give ideas for without pitching something that will add massive amounts of work for you guys. Because the immediate thing I would pitch is adding a healing grenade option to each support hero (outside of jack). I feel like such a thing existed in GowJ but I am not 100% on that because it's been a long time since I played that game. And another small touch is what I mentioned above where Support heroes would have unique ways to spawn pilfer ammo boxes on dead targets for the run and gun types to stock up on the move. OR....instead of pilfer boxes it could be the stim boxes you guys use in escape. Actually THAT sounds way better.

Halo/Terminator Heroes: Honestly I feel like this one is obvious but across the board ALL of these heroes ABSOLUTELY NEED WAY MORE skillcards in general for their viabilities to be in a good place. At the end of the day these heroes are all listed as Legendary but across the board they have the fewest amount of skillcards across all the heroes in pve. And it makes no sense. It just wreeks of a feel of these guys being thrown in as an afterthought. Also I do not think it would be a bad look if you included the halo/terminator heroes in any class based medals for pve moving forward. Like don't make medals specific to these heroes seeing as they were timed exclusives in some cases. BUT for those of us that do own them, for example add Grace and Connor to the list of any tank based medals. So that it doesn't feel bad playing as these heroes but NOT working towards any medals as a result.

I think I got MOST of what I wanted to pitch out there in this. Sorry for the really large amount of feedback but if you did make it this far, sincerely thank you. And again these are just ideas meant to spark up other thoughts from other gamers/devs or whoever has an opinion. This is by no means a "you guys should do this and this and everything will be way better". These are just my opinions on changes that would make everyone have a more enjoyable experience on the pve side in terms of horde.

    Good hunting everyone.
