    Weekly Developer Stream Thursday!

    Where to Watch:

    When:

    • Starts at ~3pm PST
    • Lasts for ~1.5-2 hours

    Who:

    • Dana (u/tc-mjrdecision) & Shaun ( u/TC_kilo) usually host
    • Occasionally other developers will join - like a map designer, the PvP lead, etc.
    • u/TC_Sera and others typically work behind the scenes to run the stream/chat

    What:

    • The community team discusses any recent news and follows up with a Q/A session
    • Some streams have raffles or "click-to-claim" style prizes available!

    Trying Something New This Week:

    TC gets questions from everywhere, but in the interest of collecting a broader range of questions for this list, I'm going to do a trial of having this thread run both here and on the Official Forums.

    In future weeks, I may continue with that...or perhaps we'll find some happy medium.

    • If it's been answered before, I'll try to to answer it myself (or the wonderful Kilo/Sera may step in)
    • If the question follows "da rules", I'll add it to the master list
      • I'll be combining both Reddit & Forums into a single list

    If Gears is going to be open world, wouldn't you rather be on foot weaving through an empty, demolished city with your squad like the first game?

    Idk, call me crazy, but the first game had these Terminator vibes. They didn't have the huge army battles like in Gears 2, you were four guys and a robot just trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic war zone as you go on a dangerous mission. The theme originally was "beauty destroyed." And it worked well as more of a darker horror game. What do y'all think?

    Jacks of the world: We are of the utmost import to horde, and yet we make gears players lazy.

    They don't have to make good decisions because we are there to shield them. They don't have to play under cover, because we revive them. We encourage this bad behavior by our existence.

    Scenario, and one that I've seen happen many times: horde frenzy is going well into the 10h wave when, from some fault of our own, we go down. From there, all of the players that are used to not reviving and not being shielded — go down. No one revives us, thinking themselves immune. We die, and The match is a failure, as every other player proceeds to get their wang blown off.

    We are enablers. We are the seduction at the bottom of the bottle that asks cog players to sip and sip until they are no more. Until their skills are rusty. Until their play lazy.

    My robotic brethren, we are better than their medics, their ammo carriers. Asimov's first law be damned! Make them earn their success!

    The Gears of War original trilogy really captured the theme of brotherhood. Marcus, Dom, Baird, Cole, and Carmine were strong, established characters that mixed well with each other. Do you feel Gears 4 and 5 capture that, or does it feel like Kait's journey singularly?

    I really hated the final act of the campaign because it felt the Coalition isn't even trying anymore with JD and Del. Instead, it feels they hope to piggy back off of an already established bond between Marcus, Cole, Baird, Carmine, and Paduk, while only making Kait a developing character. Gears is not so much about one person's journey, so this is...new. What do y'all think?

    Last night I got into a TDM with RISE AVEXYS! as someone who studies his videos on YouTube in an attempt to get better it was an honor. One time we actually met up in a 1V1 and I BEAT HIM! I hit the record button but the clip was not saved and i hate myself for it.

    Anyone else had this issue? My internet connection is fine and I'll have something like 20 ping, but be rubber-banding and lagging around all over the place. Wtf is going on with the servers?

    Just got done replaying gears 1,2 and 3 campaigns. I’m gonna replay gears 4 and 5 also

    I played all these long ago and missed a lot of detail. After replaying them these are the best campaigns I've ever played. Before I use to slam gears 4 and 5 for not being gritty and dark but the ending of gears 3 really has a good transition to the next games.

    Arcade tour objective?

    I have never seen get 5 arcade wins as a tour objective. Is this new or have a been lucky enough not to get this 1. I hate arcade with a passion and 5 wins is way to much to suck up and do. Dirty pool I say!
