    I feel these two images reflect JD as a character the most. At first he’s confident and seemingly unfazed. By the end, he’s suffered a great deal, and paid the price of his mistakes. I just hope his story in 6 adds even more depth to his character.

    Horror of the First Gears of War

    Do you think Gears of War could ever do horror again? I think it'd be difficult to do without willing to introduce new things into the universe.

    I'm writing this because I watched most of all Gears of War 1-3 cutscenes yesterday. However, I also had a horror-feel dream about it. The scenario played out like this...

    It's after Gears of War 2, and the humans have succeeded against the Locusts and are still alive to tell the tale. That's worth a celebration. So they throw this temporary celebration. It's just after the party and everyone's missing. What the fuck. It's night time, pitch black. You don't know what's going on. After the party, you expect at least one person to be around but there's not. It's so dark. And like in Gears of War 1, with the emptiness, everything's left up to the imagination while this mind-numbing soundtrack plays in the background.

    That was the major thing about Gears of War 1 and why even though there weren't scary monsters in the game (besides the Berserker), most of it was up to atmosphere and how well it challenged your sense of safety.
    Everything was so pitch black dark, and the music.. These are some soundtracks that'll remind you of what Gears of War was about since we have mostly forgotten by now:

    #15 Chap's Gas Station is really what you're looking for (and it was in my dream). It played in the act during nighttime with the Kryll. Being in the dark, it really made you feel alone and anxious.

    I'm not sure that moment can be replaced/replicated in Gears of War.

    And the reason why I think that moment can't be replaced is because you didn't feel safe, but you weren't also safe. Instead any safety that you had was an illusion. You had the fear that if you didn't have the light, you'd die. And you would actually die.

    When you had to move, you had to move with haste, you moved with caution. And also felt this way with the Berserker, which I ran for my dear life.

    I think Gears of War 1 really nailed what it wanted to do.

    Should we explore the Pendulum Wars/UIR Perspective in future games?

    I think the opportunities for future games lie in the Pendulum Wars/UIR stories. Of course, they could still show us more of the locust war, with new characters, but I think a lot of people are going to want a fresh take after Gears 6.

    Quick play map rotation gets no love?

    So just wondering if other people feel similar but my buddy and I play gears a lot and we are glad its doing better. Nothing is flawless and neither is Gears 5 but one major complaint we have is that the quick play map rotation seems to be the same 5 maps or so with the occasional outlier. For example playing the new season 4 maps in quick play is like winning the lottery but you can find them with regularity in ranked. Anyone else see this as well? Is it an issue with others? Or do we just play too much and now we are becoming grumpy and whiney about something stupid. Lmk your thoughts

    Get 5 Ring-Breaks in a single match...

    I already have 2/5 but not really sure how the mechanics works... Do you have to have 5 ring-breaks by yourself or as a team? What game mode is this much easier to achieve?
