    This just popped into my head earlier and I wanted to see what other people thought of it.

    Lizzie was supposed to live and Clayton was going die or become seriously wounded at the end of Gears 5.

    I was very disappointed when the Carmine curse reared its ugly head and took Lizzie at the beginning of 5. But her death did give us a much "better" looking JD. Her death also served as a plot point against the hammer and the strained relationship between Baird and JD. However, one thing I noticed was that JD and Baird keep having talks about what happened, and JD never mentions Clayton or at the end in Old Ephyra talks to him about.

    So long story short here are the reasons why A. I think she was supposed to live, B. Clayton was going to die or be seriously wounded, and C. Why she was killed in the release.

    A. Her death is never mentioned by Clayton, I know he's tough but I would think he would mention it especially at the end. speaking of the end the driving segment would have made a lot of sense with the motor T gear driving. She would be saved by Uncle Clay whos knows it's time for him to join his brothers and he would sacrifice himself, after giving her his tags. In Gears 6 we would see Lizzie now with decorated armor like her uncles and maybe a tattoo.

    B. Clayton has a big hero speech before entering Old Ephyra and at the end of the game he's missing from the cutscene, he's last seen on at the gate and is the only one beside generic gears missing, of all the OG characters present he's not there.

    C. just before her demise a plot point is brought up with JD and civilians casualties. In the hammer of dawn malfunction several trucks of civilians are killed and I believe that was going to be the original point of contention between Baird. I think that Lizzie was going to be pulled out of the truck by JD and while she gets away he gets caught in the blast. But as we know that's not what happened, and I think this is because TC wanted more weight to the scene without killing a beloved OG character, which I am sure they're saving that for 6.

    So that was my rambling hypothesis on why one of the shortest lived cool characters died. thanks for reading!
