Now its like since you sell boost, you don't want to get us additional help in the grind to re-up 20 for Seriously 5.0. I'm re-up 15 going on 16 and even with boost, the gains are slooooooooow. Gears 5 horde mode, tips on how to be a helpful engineer. Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:38 AM PST So I don't profess myself as a pro horde player, I've only been playing this mode for about 3 weeks. But I've been playing on Advanced difficulty pretty regularly and on easier difficulty sometimes to grind some cards. IMO an unhelpful engineer (which I see a lot) affects how the team is going to perform the most. It doesn't help that it seems like nobody can read the in game chat somehow? I've typed plenty of messages and they just seem to get ignored. Anyway, no matter which engineer you play, here it is: Start with a couple barriers. If you're playing with someone who you can coordinate with then let them build the barriers for you as the cost to build will go up if you build everything alone. I wouldn't level the barriers up first before building some weapon lockers. The sooner you have lockers, the sooner other heroes like Kait and JD don't have to worry about fighting for ammo boxes and maximize their performance. How many lockers to build is up to you, but I like to have at least 4 level 3 lockers (because level 4 can sometimes be pretty awkward to place and grab weapons from) so everyone on the team is happy. Barriers should be placed not just near where your fabricator is (remember that the fabricator is not your objective, you don't have to protect it as it can't be destroyed.) but spread out a bit further from where the fabricator is. The reason to do this is because launching JD's grenades can be pretty awkward, especially if the JD isn't that good at leading his shots yet. Aiming and releasing at moving enemies will most of the time only hit them with a few of the grenades or miss them altogether. So having a slowed down enemies that are moving on the barriers can help JD hit the enemies better. After you do all of this you can build whatever you want. On Advanced it's honestly not even necessary to have anything but level 2 barriers and weapon lockers (and maybe a forge if you have Jack on the team) but experiment how you want after you've satisfied the most important needs of the team. Tips for other heroes so as to not annoy the whole team:
No tl;dr but I don't think it's that long to read. I tried not to be too specific so people can experiment and play how they want a bit more, but sadly on harder difficulties you just have to follow the meta because enemies are too deadly and too beefy. [link] [comments] | ||

Possible changes to Horde characters (AKA Make Marcus and Fahz viable for higher level play) Posted: 03 Feb 2020 12:18 PM PST TL;DR at the bottom I just want to start off by saying I used to be a major detractor of Horde 4.0. I still don't completely agree with how it is set up, and I do hope TC comes around and makes some changes to the architecture that they built Horde 4.0 around, but I do believe that most of what they did was on the right track. Ultimate abilities are actually fun, most of the skill cards aren't useless, and breaking the Horde 3.0 classes into even more specialized sub-classes are welcomed additions, at least by me. However, there are a few things currently that could use some adjustments or changes. Firstly, I believe Marcus and Fahz (especially Fahz) could use some tweaks to some of their skill cards. Marcus is currently at a pretty decent place right now. His ultimate ability coupled with the right cards can cause major damage to the enemy horde. But in a game where JD and Kait blow everything to chunks and Baird can just auto play the game, I feel he could be brought up. Notice how I said Marcus should be brought up to better match his colleagues, not bring them down to his level. There is nothing wrong with Kait and JD's offensive prowess. There isn't anything wrong with Baird's bleeding barriers as they make him an interesting engineer (even though I know it's not intended and will eventually get patched). I think all Marcus needs right now is a reliable way to finish kills. Once the Executions Only mutator gets turned on, Marcus can't get kills to save his life. I believe Marcus' Custom Lancer card should provide benefits to all 3 generations of Lancer assault rifle. Marcus has been fighting since the Pendulum Wars and has served alongside every Lancer. To say that Marcus is a master of the Lancer platform is an understatement. With this change, Marcus would be able to use the Retro Lancer to score killing headshots during Living Legend, allowing him to effectively bypass the Execution Only mutator. I'm aware his Custom Lancer card used to provide its bonus to all Lancers, but was changed. This was when his stim card wasn't correctly working, so he was unable to fully utilize it. COG Gear's Custom Lancer card works for all 3 Lancers and it really helps with his DPS. Fahz, as a designated sniper, needs much better critical damage output. If the More Health mutator is on, Fahz is practically useless. Most of Fahz's skill cards that boost critical damage or critical kills only work during X-Ray. If Fahz is on cooldown, then he has very little damage output. This can be remedied by using Patience to use X-Ray more often, but I don't think characters should have such a heavy reliance on their ultimate to the point where they're useless unless they use it. Fahz's epic skill card Icy Precision is also rather useless. Frozen enemies are easy enough to kill, so dealing more damage to a frozen enemy is redundant. Now if Icy Precision froze enemies for a % on criticals (much like Lizzie's freeze on low health) that would be far more interesting and beneficial to the team and allow Fahz to keep hitting the same enemy and proc his other skill cards. Lastly, I'd like to see some horde oriented cards be given to Team Scorpio. I'd argue Keegan is the only one that doesn't need them, as he can currently hold his own on higher difficulties of horde. But Mac and Lahni could definitely use the extra help. Also, can we please get DeeBee in Horde? I'd love to see the creativity behind some of the skill cards. Damage boosts to DB weapons, adding a shock effect to DB weapons, less recoil on the enforcer, and the ultimate could be drop pods that spawn 2 or 3 Shepherds or spawn a Guardian/Sentinel (customizable like Lizzie's Silverback?) Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. #KarnGang TL;DR: Make Marcus' Custom Lancer apply benefits to all Lancers. Remove the "during X-Ray" requirement from all of Fahz's skill cards (except critical hits extend X-Ray) and change Icy Precision to freeze enemies on criticals (like Lizzie). Team Scorpio could use some horde cards. DeeBee would be fun in horde. Add Karn to Multiplayer. [link] [comments] |
