I won the Gears 5 ultimate fan giveaway, I got to go to Vancouver with a friend for four days, and I was given a meet and great at The Coalition. This is the prize package they just sent me.

One of the many reasons I've been giving Gears 5 a break. Just wow.

Why I love Gears of War.

    They were pissed after.

Thanks TC. This is not a "rare occurrence", this is anything BUT a "rare occurrence". FIX THE FUCKING MATCHMAKING.

    Gnasher tune ups???

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:02 PM PST

Am I the only one that loved the competitive gnasher in Gears 4, I'm not really sure why they decided to do such a dramatic change on the Gnashers behavior, shell counts and it's instant reload. Why couldn't they have carried the previous gnasher into Gears 5? Hell I'd even be okay with the core Gnasher from Gears 4.

Please TC fix the Gnasher :(

So can someone fully explain ping? My understanding of it is how good your connection to the server is.

    Dear TC...please help yourselves...

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 11:03 AM PST

    Dear TC,

Many in the community are angry. Anger comes from hurt. The holiday separation, the delayed what's up, the lack of fresh content, the slow pace at which characters are released.. you are under fire, and while I would like to say it's not ALL your fault to receive the backlash you are getting, you so shoulder the majority.

Please help yourself, please- just release characters for VS/Ranked as simple options to play as- that will relieve some of your pressure on you while you can then fine tune those skins into playable characters in Arcade/Horde/Escape, etc...in the background.

I understand there is a call to make change from pro's, and hardcore fans, and casuals, and multiple forum communities, it's like you are literally being drawn and quartered in every different direction.. that being said you need to start helping yourself. Little things go a long way, and I believe releasing characters in VS/Ranked at a quicker pace is the best thing you can do to help yourself at this point.

Please keep the love and hard work going on this awesome franchise- understand the anger and the frustration comes from a place of love and hurt.

    Thanks

"So what's wrong with Gears 5 Versus?"

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 10:58 PM PST

If you fired your shotgun shell first, and mash on the trigger, you should fire your third shell before the other fires their third shell, right? WRONG. Why isn't it consistent? Hell if I know.

One person shooting another with a shotgun at point blank and it does not kill.

One person shoots the shotgun at a range that should not one-shot. But it one-shots.

    Players shooting behind cover.

AI literally has a wall in their face and their bullets go through the wall.

Unnecessary speed increase of the game because the Coalition wishes we were all the Flash from DC. Why? I dunno why are you asking me?

I throw a smoke grenade and find that while my screen has the smoke, there is no smoke in the view from the enemy's perspective. Real nice.

    Just came back on KOTH

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 03:21 PM PST

Lost 1,100 today due to just terrible in fair matchmaking. I was put up against masters ppl because I had a 4 team of bronze noobs (nothing wrong with them but it is an issue when partied up with the other end of the 1%)

Come on TC man. They are definitely aware of this since we haven't received any weekly ranked rewards

"What's up" With This Sorry Ass What's Up?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 10:17 PM PST

Jan 13th What's Up is the sorriest What's Up I have ever read. They Make excuses and apologize for not posting the article for 2 weeks, excuses that don't add up or really make sense. Then they talk about estimated wait times and make a bunch of excuses concerning that. It's not difficult, build an algorithm that collects data and estimates wait times, then display the information to the user. Honestly, I could care less about this feature, it will probably be pointless like it was in Gears 4. I am glad they are working on the region matchmaking and the Omen though. There are so many bugs though, I would rather they work on those instead of the estimated wait times.

The Gnasher will never be fixed

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:55 AM PST

Am I the only one who feels like, since Gears 1, the Gansher has always been wildly inconsistent? And updates and tweaks just change the manner in which it is inconsistent?

Getting boned by the game's programming as much as by your opponents has been a part of Gears since the beginning. :P

Not excusing the game's flaws, but it just feels inherently Gears to have your multiplayer experience have a good dose of BS thrown in. Maybe it's just even more apparent these days because lag isn't really an issue anymore like it used to be.

Like I hope TC keeps working to improve the game, but when a new update comes out and the Gnasher has a new issue, I'm not surprised or worried about it.

    That's Gears, Baby!

Gears 5 - Estimated Hero Release Schedule

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 05:08 AM PST

Just wanted to put this here as a refresh or as a thought exercise, and I invite everyone here to join in and add in any character I probably have missed off or to add something I seemingly haven't considered (all additional Carmines are just skins of Clay ((or Lizzie - can you imagine!)) for example).

Basically, I just wanted to illustrate what could be the time line for players to appreciate just how long they might have to wait to get a certain character based on the current release rate in the 'Hero' system.

I've started with what I've believed to be most likely to be short term releases and gone from there to what I consider to be characters that are required to be in Gears 5 but may be towards the bottom of TC's priority queue.

This also doesn't factor in any surprise characters - for example: Gabe Diaz in a Tactics crossover or Canon new appearances (Jermad, as point of reference - so think Heroes like Bai Tak or Carlos Santiago etc). I have also tried to go Male Hero / Female hero when possible to follow the Baird / Lizzie precedent, and also factoring in that TC confirmed on stream that they had Sam's build in a playable state already.

Finally, because I had a little bit of a moment (See: 'entitled gamer') rant on Monday - if we could keep this civil so I don't become TC's public enemy number one (my pings are already high enough outside of KOTH/TDM!!); I'd appreciate it.

Operation 3 (March 2020): Cole and Sam

Operation 4 (June 2020): Clay Carmine and Oscar/Paduk

    Operation 5 (September 2020): Paduk/Oscar and Anya

Operation 6 (December 2020): Dom / A.Carmine/B.Carmine (Hoffman - VA ill so understandably unlikely but I felt best place to suggest he goes, if he comes in)

    Operation 7 (March 2021): Dizzy / Kim / Tai

    Operation 8 (June 2021): Sophia / Alicia / Barrick / Jace

Operation 9 (September 2021 - Two years after Gears 5's release!): Existing Gears 4 characters, eg UIR / NCOG etc
