    With the number of maps slowly increasing, landing on the one map you need becomes more and more frustrating, so I guess it really does qualify as a challenge after all!

    Gears 4 and Brawlhalla's character unlock system is so much better than Gears 5's Character Token Unlock System; Gears 5's system is built for profit first.

    Gears 4's system, IIRC, let you earn characters through a loot box, or let you craft them using Scrap, which was acquired via multiple methods in-game. Collecting scrap might take awhile, and is a bit scarce at first, but at least it can be stockpiled when it's not needed to immediately unlock a character. No addition requirements or challenges required to unlock a desired character.

    Brawlhalla's character unlock system is so much better than Gears 5's unlock system as well; all you have to do is spend the easily earnable Gold currency that you get from every match played, and that's it. They are unlocked. No silly challenges to do, no real XP requirements; they are just unlocked, no questions asked. Gold is the same with scrap as it is the primary in-game earnanle currency and in it can be stockpiled as well. Brawlhalla's a F2P game by the way that's been released since 2014 and still going on strong.

    Gears 5 however requires you to have 100 Scrap to first create the totem, and then complete 5 other objectives, which will realistically take you about 10 hours to do on average. You can stockpile as much scrap as you want to, but you'll always have the 10 hour grind to do no matter how much scrap you have. These objectives also may require you to play a game mode that you just may not care about at all, making the grind even more burnout inducing. This is probably the intended, desired effect TC wants, as they obviously want more players to pony up some cash to skip the 10 hour workday for each character to increase their revenue.

    I understand TC wanting to increase their revenue stream, as I imagine that their coffers are possibly half-full from the hell-hole that was Operation 1. But I can't see the current token system being a good solution to keeping player retention. The totem system doesn't even allow for multiple totem progress, which is only going to end up burning out players who actively go through the 10 hour quest for each character over and over and over again in order to unlock each character in a challenge oriented way. Unlocking 4 characters is about 40 hours average; that's an entire full time work week and can't even be prepared reasonable well for to hasten the work time. Of course, you could skip the entire grind with a buyable cheat code, which is MTXs today equate to; MTXs are pretty much Cheat Codes that you have to buy to use.

    Release more than 4 characters at a time, and make the acquisition requirements more reasonable and it will only help Gears 5; it will not hinder it more than it already is. The average timeframe for each character? Maybe 2-4 hours at the most. Want to add more challenges? Go ahead and add them in the ToD Medals section, and then they can actually help with ToD progress. They will also be able to be worked on multiple at a time as well; don't add the grind for base characters unlocks, that will only burn out players.

    It's long overdue and the franchise needs this. I understand it's not a super easy thing to do but at least they all used a version of Unreal engine. It's one of Microsoft's most recognizable franchises and would be amazing. Even if they wait for next gen it's something I am sure we all want.

    60k XP is too much

    I'm really digging these new set of totem challenges for unlocking characters, the diversity is much better and not forcing you to play modes you aren't in to is a huge plus. However, 60k XP is a ridiculous amount of experience to earn for a single character. That's 480k XP to unlock every character and being a pretty much versus player exclusively its a tedious grind with the miniscule amount of XP you get from a versus game. Really wish they would ditch that unlock condition for characters.

    So I repaired a Lizzie silverback and restocked the ammo while playing Del. Just testing to see if it works. After 50 waves below was my stats. I completed Carnage (15,000,000 damage dealt) and Horde Carnage (10,000,000 damage dealt in Horde). We played on map forge.

    Gears 5: Getting booted from Horde to Dashboard

    As the title states, I keep getting booted from a Horde match to the Dashboard. Only happens when a wave is completed; game freezes, and then ejects me.

    Has only stared happening after the latest patch.

    Anyone else?

    I Did Some Testing with the Silverback, Here's What I've Found

    With Lizzie being added to Gears 5, she also brings the Silverback mech back into Horde (and it debuts in Escape) as her ultimate. I've seen a lot of people asking questions, so I figured I'd test some features of the Silverback to see what players can and cannot do with it. Do note that as of making this thread, I am only level 6 with Lizzie so not everything is unlocked. And I've done all of this by myself, mostly.

    Here's some of the stuff I've found so far:

    • You can have two weapons equipped to the Silverback at the same time. You cannot use them at the same time though, firing one while firing the other will just cause one to stop. This also means you will only have three skills affecting other areas of Lizzie or the Silverback equipped if you use two weapons.

    • If not destroyed, the Silverback is active for roughly 35 seconds without any cards that increase it's duration

    • Without any skills or cards, the recharge time is roughly five and a half minutes.

    • If the Silverback is destroyed before it's duration ends, you will not get a shorter recharge time.

    • Lizzie can exit the Silverback without canceling the ultimate and destroying it.

    • Allies can enter and use the Silverback. It's not exclusive to Lizzie.

    • While in Defense Mode, one ally can use the back of the Silverback as cover. They cannot use the front, as proper cover at least.

    • You can heal the Silerback using the repair tool (and Jack)

    • You can not reload the Silverback's ammo using the repair tool (and Jack)

    • You can pick up power

    • You cannot revive downed allies

    • The explosion at the end of the ultimate doesn't damage Lizzie or allies nearby. It can however kill an enemy if they are right next to the Silverback as it explodes. I managed to kill a Deadeye by doing this. I haven't tested it on larger enemies

    • Players are forced out at the end of the duration, meaning you will not die if the timer runs out and you are still using the Silverback. If you are against a wall and cannot exit the Silverback, it will just explode with no damage done to you.

    NEW:

    • If you are not Lizzie and enter the Silverback with a charged Ultimate, cannot activate it. Trying to will just activate defense mode.

    • You can, however, activate an ultimate before entering the Silverback. The next two points will go over what happens when you do this.

    • You cannot use buff ultimates (Fahz, Sarah, Kait, Marcus, etc) with the Silverback. The ultimate is not canceled and the duration will continue while in the mech, but none of it's affects will be granted.

    • You can use summoning ultimates then enter the Silerback and they will remain active until destroyed or duration ends.

    • You can use Mac's barrier ultimate but it will be forced to the left side of the Silerback.

    This is all I have found so far. If there's anything someone is curious about that isn't here, ask and I'll give it a try!

    So after playing a handful of 1-50 horde matches I finally got the card. I created a game set it to wave 10 to test it out on a boss and well as you guess it didn't do anything, which in turn sucks considering if that doesn't work I'm sure the Healing Trishot doesn't either but who knows I'll find out when I reach 12. just want to spread awareness so this could be fixed.
