    Weekly Developer Stream Thursday!

    Where to Watch:

    When:

    • Starts at ~3pm PST
      • Note, this week it seems that it may be at 3:30 PST (6:30 EST)
    • Lasts for ~1.5-2 hours

    Be sure to check for a stickied comment below. If anything changes in regards to day/time, we'll be sure to have that info in the stickied comment!

    Who:

    • Dana (u/tc-mjrdecision) usually the host
    • Occasionally other developers will join - like a map designer, the PvP lead, etc.
    • Andius (Community Team) typically works behind the scenes to run the stream/chat

    What:

    • The community team discusses any recent news and follows up with a Q/A session
    • Some streams have raffles or "click-to-claim" style prizes available!

    Submitting Questions!

    This week is all about the Campaign / Lore! Be sure to keep the questions directed towards that.

    The Rules: In order to condense the number of questions a bit, we have a few rules laid out. These rules are based on what we've experienced in the past, as we've started to learn what TC will and will not answer.

    • Keep it Lore based this week!
    • They don't talk about future content
      • Campaign DLC
      • Gears 6
      • What happens next?
    • Don't expect much in regards to them filling in "Negative space"
      • What happened to ____ during ____?

    I'll sticky a comment to this thread to help collect questions.

    *Also note that TC reads the twitch (and sometimes mixer) chats for questions when live.

    Gears 5 was my first GOW game that I started playing when it came out. I went back and played all the Gears games on gamepass (thank you Microsoft for backwards compatibility). Im also reading all the books and they are great also. But after beating all the old games im back on Gears 5 trying to get better on online PvE and PvP. And just last night I found out you can play split screen horde and escape so me and my son played split screen with my brother online and we had so much fun that it instantly made the game feel even more fun. I love this game and series.

    My main desire for the sequel would be for the swarm to go away and the locust to come back, or the swarm become far more like the locust.

    Player count, purchases and game pass

    Xbox api estimates gears 5 has about 10,000-20,000 players

    (How it works and limitations: – These estimates are based on a random sample of ~2 million Xbox Live accounts. – Only includes accounts with non-zero gamerscore. – Newly created accounts are added with an average lag of two weeks. – Currently played games are obtained via Xbox API (Xbox Live presence status).

    That's a healthy player count for versus But most definitely bad for PVP with all the difficulties and not great for a triple AAA game that was advertised the shit out of but we know why Gears 5 isn't that big.

    It's not even on the list of most played game pass games

    I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's mainly those of us that payed full price who are keeping this game alive.

    Why was Gears of War 2 hated on launch?

    I didn't have Xbox live when Gears 2 came out and only played the MP a year after it had already been out, but recently I've been seeing a lot of folks say the game wasn't as good as people remember it to be.

    Seen a few post on here as well as YouTube videos of people asking TC for a Gears 2 remake and there is always a handful of people that say Gears 2 MP was the worst and they just went back to Gears 1 when it first came out.

    What was wrong with it? I was under the impression that everyone loved Gears 2.
